What does a lawyer do ?

The work of a lawyer generally consists of the following tasks:

  • meeting clients
  • work on files
  • drafting contracts and agreements
  • preparing briefs (especially when they deal with cases that will be tried in court)
  • counselling
  • negotiating

Law practitioners normally work for long and irregular hours on their client’s cases, researching and reading about particular circumstances and new developments.
Those performing their tasks in the Judicial Service or corporate sectors are more likely to have structured work schedules.
